Serial Flash memory M45PE10 - Data Reading Issues

Postby ZaheerAhmad » 23 Oct 2023 11:43

Hi,
I am trying to read the data of Serial Flash memory M45PE10 of STMicroelectronics.
I am using DATAMAN-40PRO and programming software is PG4UW V 3.04/01.2021
While trying to read the data, the programmer says that it failed the device ID check. And if disable the device ID check and try reading the device again then it completes the reading cycle but comes back with an empty buffer.
Can any body help me in this?

Best Regards to All

Hello ZaheerAhmad,

Thank you for posing in our user forum. We implemented the programming algorithm for the M45PE10 over 10 year ago and have not modified it since. We have had no reports of complaints from customers about the support.

Can you try upgrading the software to the latest version v3.88/10.2023 and see if the situation improves.

If it does not then please run the Selftest... from the programmer menu using the supplied 48pin diagnostic pod. If the result is OK then please recreate the situation you describe and then generate a info-rich problem report using the Help > Create problem report feature and email it to me at support@dataman.com for analysis.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best regards,

Hello Neil Parker
Dataman Programmer

I am thankful to you for your reply on the subject.

As per your guidance I have done the software upgrade and did the read operation again but the same problem of Device ID Check fail. I have tried multiple ICs just to rule out the case of a broken IC. I have tried multiple ICs just to rule out the case of a broken IC. I have a verified working IC and that also presents the same error.

Then I ran the self test from the programmers menu using the supplied 48-pin diagnostic pod. The self test was ok. Then I created the fault report from the help menu and have emailed to you at support@dataman.com.

Best Regards

Hello ZaheerAhmad,

Thank you for the information and log files showing actions with the device and the result of the Selftest… .

I can see that this device when used on the Dataman-40Pro requires an extra adaptor:

Can you confirm that you have both the DIL8/DIL8 SEE-1 and DIL8/SOIC8 ZIF 150mil adaptors?

Hello Neil Parker,

I have successfully read the program of the IC and subsequently programmed another one.

Thanks a lot for your kind support and prompt response.
