I am using an 8 year old S4 (serial 20374) to burn 27c256 Eproms. These chips burn just fine.
Very occasionally I have to burn PIC12c508 chips using the PIC adapter set and an 18 DIL to 8 DIL adapter.
I have successfully burned 12c508s before, although I can’t recall which library I was using then.
On recently attempting to burn PICS using PIC 2.33, I am getting the following:
M-Chip 12C508
13.00V, use Adaptor
00000-003FF=00000
Burning ID area
We go through the burn …
Address 001XX
Address 002XX
Address 003XX
Then we get…
VDD MIN
00000
RAM=0000 ROM=0FFF
00002
RAM=0AC8 ROM=0000
00004
RAM=0FFF ROM=0000
00006
RAM=0FFF ROM=0000
00008
RAM=0FFF ROM=0000
0000A
RAM=0FFF ROM=0000
Etc…
S4 RAM is loaded with….
00000 00 00 C8 0A FF FF FF FF
00008 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
00010 4D 08 61 08 79 08 75 08
etc
Vdd is measured as 4.94 vdc during burn, with Vpp at 12.95 vdc
Why wont the PICs burn ?

Re: Pic Problem
Hi again,
We have investigated this issue and there is no library problem, please check your adaptor configuration.
You must use the PIC16 module (which is not passive by the way) and then insert PIC12Cxxx adaptor into ZIF18 of PIC16 adaptor. You can build the PIC12Cxxx adaptor yourelf, but not PIC16 module which you have to purchase from Dataman.
Regarding the Dataman PIC12Cxxx adaptor there is a notch on the PCB indicating TOP. Secondly the PIC12Cxxx ZIF handle should be on the top. So it should be easy to insert the adaptor into PIC16 ZIF18 correctly.
Hope this helps you,
Neil
