PIC16C505 Programming

Postby Guest » 14 Nov 2011 12:41

Hi,

I'm using a PIC16C505 in a new application. I'm trying to use the device with the internal RC oscillator with RB4 in IO mode. When I download the code to the S4, the configuration (checked with FUNC-COMP) is set correctly, but the device only gets programmed in external RC mode with RB4 in osc out mode. I'm using the Intel Hex Format in the MPLab IDE for the download file.

Hi,

1. What device are you using DIP or SOIC ? Windowed or OTP ?
2. Are you using S4 PIC16 module ?
3. Are you using S4 PIC16 ZIF18 to DIP14 convertor for PIC16C505 ?
(It is described in the Pin_Swap.txt)

If you could provide more details please.

Neil

Hi,

I'm using the DIP14 OTP version (PIC16C505-04/P) with the PIC16 Series adapter. I've made my own ZIF18 to DIP14 adapter which has the same pin connections as listed in Pin_swap.txt:

P4 -> P4
P12 -> P12
P13 -> P13
P14 -> P1
P5 -> P14

All other pins are unconnected.

As I mentioned, the device programs and runs fine, it's just the oscillator settings that are wrong.

Hi Simon,

I have sent a modified revision of the PIC library (1.43b) with details to resolve this issue direct to your e-mail address . I would be grateful if you would let me know if it all works ok.

Thanks,

Neil
