Hi Neil
Just wondered what i set the S4 to to program the PIC12C508P chips? Do i set it to 12C508 or 12C508A ?? or is there a different settings used which is not yet in the libary for the S4? Just one other question, will these devices program just by making up the pic adaptor for the S4 ? one post i read said a homemade adaptor was ok, and on another it said that a adaptor would be needed first which was not passive then add the homemade one. Can you advise which is correct?

hi again, the first question on what to set the S4 to I realise now it will be 12C508 as the actual chip to program is a 12C508/P (the P meaning it is a dip package)

The second question on the S4 adaptor i would still like to know if i can make one up for the S4

The S4 PIC module can be seen on our website. As you can see it is not a simple pin swap adaptor. It has logic devices and an oscillator inside. It is against the policy of Dataman to release the design details of any of our products. The PIC module provides three ZIF sockets which accept the DIL package, you will require a further package adaptor if you are using a package other than DIL, these adaptors are simple to make.
