I have Made a library-PROM with 8bit flash..1.14 and loaded the library to my S4.
When I press PROM I can find SST 29EE010.
But when I try FUNC-PROM I get:
Signature: 0419
No match found

Why Can't I find the device
According to SST the device ID should be:
#define SST_ID 0xBF
#define SST_29EE010 0x07

If I manually select SST29EE010 i still can't erase the device.
If I try I get:
Sorry, impossible

Why is it impossible to erase the device ?

Hi Peder,

This is an EEPROM device as opposed to EPROM and therefore it does not require erasure before programming. You can simply write new data to it which will replace any existing contents. If you program it with a buffer filled with FFh then you will effectively erase the device.

As for the auto ID I am not sure why this doesnt pick the device up. Perhaps the manufacturer has changed the die and also the ID code recently.

Thanks's for a quick reply.
You are right. Fill with FF and program will "erase"

My problem was that I couldn't even program the device.
A little search on this forum and I found out that I should do a FUNC-QUICK -> OFF
After that I can program the device correctly.

So my problems are solved.
But it would be nice if the programmer could recognize the Silicon Signatur 0419 as SST29EE010
But I can live with doing it manually
