Some questions about the new Chipburner-40 programmer:

1. Does it work under Windows XP?

2. Does it support the Atmel 89C55WD (6.5V Vcc)

3. Does it support low voltage parts?

4. Will the device list continue to be updated as time goes by?

Hi Ian,

The Chipburner is a limited, sold as seen, cheap device programmer. It has not been tested on Windows XP, it does not support the AT89C55WD. It does however support many low voltage devices, the device list will not be extended any further than what is already available. All of the above points really reflect its very cheap price, customers who have purchased this programmer have been happy with its performance.

That's a very honest answer. Much appreciated. I use an S4 for virtually everything but I need to program the AT89C55WD. I just can't decide whether to push the boat out and buy a 48LV or whether to buy one of those limited life $200 programmers solely to program that one part.

Of course, what I really want is for Dataman to figure out how to update the MCS51 module to handle the 6.5V Vcc.... :)
