PIC16F873 S4 Won't Erase

Postby Guest » 14 Nov 2011 12:35

Once the code protection is set on the PIC16X873 the normal 'chip erase' command used by the S4 does not seem to work. Microchip seem to recommend a different erase algorithm if code protect is set - Is this being implemented by the S4? (I am using the PIC lib 2.33)

Hi,

Could you confirm the part number of the device you are using, is it a 16F87x device?

Yes the device was a PIC16F873 - Standard narrow plastic dip version. I used a 1:1 adapter as the pins spacing on the S4 ZIF socket are spaced too wide.
