Battery or thyristor or CPU?

Postby Guest » 14 Nov 2011 12:47

I read many topics and user posts but I'm not sure which one describes my problem correctly. My S4 (and its batteries) are 8 to 10 years old. The batteries don't keep the S4 on for more than a few minutes. When I try to charge them the S4 shuts off between 5 and 20 seconds after displaying "Charger is connected and turned on". I did the 30-second trick with the reset button, but nothing works. The gauge always shows the battery as full and at a voltage of at least 8.5 volts. I tried to simulate a dead (or new) battery by discharging it to 1 volt outside the S4, but I still get the full gauge and 8.5 volts. Where exactly is the problem? If I buy a new battery how am I sure the S4 will behave correctly to charge it?

Mr Laroche

I think that in this case it would be best if you could return the unit to us for inspection/repair.

There is a standard repair charge of £95 + return carriage + VAT where applicable.

Neil
